Sermon Note (4th service)
God’s plan for mankind is from Israel will bless mankind. God wanted the whole world to be blessed. For God so loved THE WORLD, not only Israel.
Kings and queens from all over the world will come to listen to Solomon. He is still the richest man who ever lived. He built God the most expensive temple ever existed.
God will send prophets after prophets do not worship idols. God is a compassionate God and He does not want child sacrifice.
Being the 50, the number of Jubilee, God has ordained the government we have.
Roman was known for their cruelty. Our government is not cruel.
The man being the head means he is the one who has the final accountability towards God.
The position of a leader. That does not mean he is higher. Man and woman are on equal standing towards God.
Woman will inspire man towards Tree of Life.
Of all creation, the highest creation, man, has fallen. Our expectation is for perfection. Now we have fallen.
There are missionaries who have gone to the far away countries. The village people who have not heard of God’s word or 10 commandments, yet they knew it from their hearts. Their conscience know what is right and what is wrong. The word of God is written in man’s hearts. Are we living up to the light of our conscience?
Everyone needs a Saviour. Everyone is lost.
If someone cries out to God, God will send someone to him to preach the gospel.
God is more just, compassionate than what we can imagine.
Everyone knows what is right and wrong and they have so suppress them.
Abraham just followed God. God called Abraham as His friend! Who wants to be a friend of God?
10 commandments was not yet given. Yet Abraham walked with God! Abraham was a friend of God!
Abraham loved God. When God gave the 10 commandments, He knew man cannot. He gave not for man to keep, but to show man cannot and need a Saviour!
Romans 5:20
Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,
God’s main agenda is grace.
The dealing of God was by grace when people murmured, God gave by grace.
Grace abounded!
The Lord did not come so that holiness might abound. He came so that offences might abound. He want to show us we need a Saviour.
The law brings out man’s sin.
Galatians 3:19
Purpose of the Law
What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.
As long as there is no law, it is not a transgression. The law is to show how sinful we are, not how righteous we are.
Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Galatians 3:24-25
Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
Bring us to a place of maturity through Christ.
Have we been justified by faith?
1 John 3:20-24
For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
The Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Error
Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
The law is the strength of sin. God is the Blesser.
God is a Friend and not a disciple master!
Testimonies of lives transformed from this grace preaching!
The Lord our God is one God.
Plural oneness. 3 in 1!
Father Son Spirit.
There is no 3 Gods. We have a spirit a soul and we live in a body.
“My best” does not cut it when you are under the law. It is not judged based on your “best”, but based on your action.
John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Neighbour there refer to Israel.
Love one another – all believers.
How much does He loves us?
God bless the ministry who show how much God loves us!!
Believe on the name of the Son Jesus Christ.
We love because He first love us.
1 John 4:19
We love Him because He first loved us.
The law was given by Moses. Demand is from Moses. Supply is from Jesus!
We love because He first loved us!!
People end up loving God and loving one another.
Believe in God’s love to us.
Believe on the Son Jesus Christ is to believe God loves us!!
The more we believe it we are keeping the new commandments. Keep yourself in the love of God!! And whatever we ask, we receive from Jesus!
Ascending love is never greater than the descending love! God love us more than we can imagine!
God opened the heaven to Jesus and said He is His darling Son in whom He is well-pleased and this Son He gave up to save us on the cross!!
He was stripped so that God can cloth us with His righteousness!!
Isaiah 52:14
Just as many were astonished at you,
So His visage was marred more than any man,
And His form more than the sons of men;
On that cross, His beautiful face was covered with not just spit but it was beyond recognition. This is the love of God!
I am not here to tell u about morality. Morality is important. What is more important and produces morality is the love of God!
Old commandment tell us do or die. The new commandment tell us to sleep when we are tired, eat when we are hungry. It is our nature to love.
As He has loved us.
1 John 4:10-11
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Love is not we loving God. Mused on that for a while.
John is the disciple who lean on Jesus’ breast and heard the heartbeat of heaven.
Is He loved us and sent His Son for us!
God has all the power. Yet He came all the way down to save us! This is what love means.
He did not conquer by using force. He conquered by love.
1 John 3:10-12
The Imperative of Love
In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.
Practise righteousness? (Is not righteousness a gift? Let us answer here)
Both came to God. Cain’s work was evil. Abel work was righteous. What did Cain do?
Man gave God up and everything else up for an apple. God was the One who clothed man with cloth of skin. Pictures of sacrifice.
Faith comes by hearing.
God dwell at the east of Eden. Cain brought the works of his effort. The first murder was about the approach to God. Cain’s work was evil.
Abel brought first born of his flock. He killed the animal lamb for his first sacrifice.
God cannot bypass sin but can forgive sin. Once blood is shed we are no longer sinful. Behold the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world.
No blood was shed in Cain’s part and this is on his own works and not the sacrifice of lamb.
He trust in his own effort and this is called evil.
God respected Abel and his offering. God respect us because of the way He ordained.
Cain trusted his self-righteousness. Abel trusted the work of another, the death of another for his sin. It was a sin of approach.
Offer well – it is about right believing. God brought the lamb all the way to the door of Cain. His desire is for us.
A sin-offering is crouching.
The work of faith is near u! It is right in your mouth and in your heart!!
The blood the sweat the tears the pain has all been done at the cross. For us, it is so near in our heart and our mouth!!
Cain is “too refine” to kill a lamb but not too “cultured” to kill his brother
Genesis 4:3-8
And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.
So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.
What is practising righteousness?
Is to trust in His grace and His righteousness and not our own righteousness and our own effort!
God favour people like us who trust His grace.
Trust and rest in Jesus’ love for us.
John called himself the disciple whom Jesus loves. He was keeping the new commandment. John was the one at the foot of the cross who was able to serve the Lord. He adopted Mary as his mother and was able to give the Lord comfort at His dying moment. He was able to be used by the Lord.
Remind one another that we are loved by the Lord. Love suffers long and be kind.
