“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Mt 11:28-30, MSG)
Wow, it’s only been 2 weeks since the official launch of GUFC, and God has already used it to create ripples in the community.
As I write this, our Facebook page has got 222 likes (and counting), and from various parts of the world too.
All glory be to Jesus Christ!
We have given, or are in the process of giving, 10 copies of Ps Prince’s latest book, and will be giving out the other 15 in the next 3 weeks.
But that’s not all. We are planning to give out even more “goodies”, leading up to Christmas, so do stay tuned.
We have been receiving several grace stories, and you can read them in the Testimonies section of our website. I have my own story to tell, which I have shared with my fellow brothers and sisters in GUFC. I was asked to share it with all of you, and and will do so after I return from my Israel trip with my bestie from 25 Nov to 4 Dec. (Yes, my dream to visit the Holy Land is finally coming true!)
Back to this blog entry. Just wanted to testify and share about how that synergy I blogged about 2 weeks ago has never been so pronounced as it has been over the past few days. In the secular working world, it requires weeks or even months of planning for a project to be successful. But in the spiritual realm, when God is totally in charge, and we His people follow His leading, somehow everything just falls into place so perfectly and effortlessly without the need for a detailed plan (please don’t get me wrong here. I am not saying we are disorganised, but that the Holy Spirit is like the conductor of the GUFC orchestra and the music that is being produced is just so symphonic and harmonic).
Ps Prince preached a sermon some time back entitled “Living by the Unforced Rhythms of Grace” making reference to Eugene Peterson’s translation of Matthew 11:28-30. That is precisely how things have been flowing for us! One of us went to Gracehope.com to collect the books. A couple then helped to carry them to HQ ZoAl. Another couple of us went to get the chops and stickers. Another was involved in the wrapping of those books. Yet others went to the post office to mail out books to overseas recipients, while one worked on the announcements on Facebook, and so on.
But what is most awesome is that even our spouses have started to get involved, no more so than dearest brother Alvin (the better half of Eve). He has been quietly and diligently laminating the GIF 5-pointer notices, stamping and numbering the books, and even helped to account for and carry our GUFC teeshirts from the supplier to HQ ZoAl. Thank you Alvin for your spirit of excellence and your labour of love!
In closing, here are some snapshots of what has been happening behind the scenes.
God is truly at work in GUFC and enabling us to carry out the following:
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Heb 10:24-25, NIV)
