And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him. -Luke 2:40
Over the long weekend in May 2008, Kae who was just 6 years old then, stayed with us. As I was doing my bible study, he decided he would do his own bible study and quiet time. This is me recalling what he was like 5 years ago. =) He has grown so much over the years. I cannot believe he is turning 12. Like all mothers, we keep memories like these locked in our hearts and look back at them with awe at how the our kids have the mind of Christ and the Holy Spirit teaches them all things.
I peered over Kae’s shoulders as he wrote in his book in his kiddy scrawl – “The Devil is like a Robber pretending to be a Postman”.
Bemused, I asked him why did he phrase it that way?
“Because the Devil wants to send evil messages into our hearts, and rob us of our Good Meal and blessings.”
How come I don’t come up with such nifty quotable quotes? =)
But honestly – I praise Jesus for the wisdom given to this young one. The LORD has been kind to us to teach the little one in this way. The working of the Holy Spirit – no doubt.
I am so glad he understands this basic fact.
Many adults still struggle with understanding and accepting that the Devil is a thief. When trouble happens, they tend to point their fingers at God and blame Abba for it.
IMHO, God wants good for us and not bad; He is a good God, not a sadistic one.He doesn’t contradict Himself or forgets His promises to us. It sometimes feels like the latter is happening because we apply the human concept of time over the situation, instead of God’s concept of time. They are vastly different.
We need to have a better opinion of God if we are to withstand the lies of the evil one, and the destruction that comes attached to them.
We forget that we are living in a fallen world and the one holding the Earth’s lease is Lucifer himself. Adam had surrendered it to him when Eve and him chose to bite into the Forbidden Fruit.
This is why Christ has come – to break the seals and free us from the Deceiver forever. The world will cease to be fallen at long last… a clean slate and a new dawn will then arrive.
Kae’s words, phrased in childlike wisdom, is indeed a concise and timely reminder to the “big people” in his life. Especially in times fraught with natural disasters, peril and a possible impending global famine.
I look forward to being hit by more big truths made bite-sized that comes from Kae’s mouth. =)
And Kae still surprises me with the wisdom he does spout from time to time that I know is not of his own but of the LORD’s grace and goodness. =D
