Sermon note (4th svc)By Pastor Lawrence
We are more than conquerors in Christ!
Jeremiah 1:4-8
The Prophet Is Called
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
Then said I:
“Ah, Lord God!
Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”
But the Lord said to me:
“Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’
For you shall go to all to whom I send you,
And whatever I command you, you shall speak.
Do not be afraid of their faces,
For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.
God knew us before we are formed!
Nothing is by chance. Where we are today, everything is ordained by God.
Stop giving excuses when we have a destiny to fulfil. It is not about our ages, our color of skin. If God has called you, He will fulfil the destiny!
We are called for such a time as this!
It is by the grace of God i stand.
Don’t despise the days of the small beginning.
God is using me, God is moulding me. Do not say i am not good enough. Say i can do all things through Christ who strengthen me!
The same evil words spoken, David got angry for he knows he has God. He trust God even more!
Never say i am this and that. We shall go to whomever God has brought us to!
1 Timothy 4:12
Take Heed to Your Ministry
Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Be an example. Christianity is lived not by us preaching it. It is lived by our lives.
We are forgiven and live a life to glorify Him!
Our lives matter. How we live matters. Grace is not a license to sin, we know that.
For Him, we live!
Esther 4:13-16
And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”
God has ordained and predetermined us where we are, for a destiny to fulfil.
Acts 17:26
And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,
Here i am, send me! We are have a purpose to fulfil! Only us can fulfil!
We have a pre appointed destiny!
Souls are at stake. God has a destiny for us to fulfil!
There is a call greater than our own life!
We all form a complex puzzles to fulfil God’s calling for our lives!
There is a destiny to fulfil! Amen!!
John 15:15
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
Jesus was speaking to His disciples. He is telling them He don’t call them servants but call them friends!
He does not treat us as His servants. When it comes to us He treats us as His friends!
Romans 1:1
Greeting
Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God
Philippians 1:1
Greeting
Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ,
To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Colossians 1:1
Chapter 1
Greeting
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
Why are they calling themselves servants when Jesus said He don’t call them servants?
Exodus 21:1-6
Chapter 21
The Law Concerning Servants
“Now these are the judgments which you shall set before them: If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years; and in the seventh he shall go out free and pay nothing. If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master has given him a wife, and she has borne him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself. But if the servant plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,’ then his master shall bring him to the judges. He shall also bring him to the door, or to the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him forever.
Law regarding the Hebrew’s slaves.
He could go out free but he would not, because of his love for his master, his wife and his children.
Who do you think this slave is?
Psalms 40:6-8
Sacrifice and offering You did not desire;
My ears You have opened.
Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.
Then I said, “Behold, I come;
In the scroll of the book it is written of me.
I delight to do Your will, O my God,
And Your law is within my heart.”
It represent covenant.
We are both His wife and His children because we are His church.
Hebrews 10:5-7
Christ’s Death Fulfills God’s Will
Therefore, when He came into the world, He said:
“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
But a body You have prepared for Me.
In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure.
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—
In the volume of the book it is written of Me—
To do Your will, O God.’ ”
If Jesus’ ears were pierced, it will not be enough to save us.
This Hebrew’s Slave is the Lord Jesus. He is willing to go to the cross for us. Because He loves us, though He was free, He chose to go to the cross and not to be free.
Lion, Eagle, Man, Ox – each face speak of God and who He is
Ezekiel 1:10
As for the likeness of their faces, each had the face of a man; each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and each of the four had the face of an eagle.
Lion king – Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!
All things were made through Him, nothing that was made was made.
It is important for us to know Jesus is not only God, He is the Creator of all things!
When we pray in the name of Jesus, we acknowledge Him! When deaf ears open, testified Jesus is God!
Jesus became a Man so that He can die for our sins!
Our God is the God who loves us!
Jesus is God! He is Creator! He was in the beginning with God.
In order for Jesus to die, He needed to be become a Man! He is the Perfect Man!
What about the Ox?
Ox is born into the world to serve the purpose of the master. The entire life it will serve his master.
At the end of the life, the ox will be killed to bring nourishment to the master.
In the bible, Ox is a sacrificial offerings. Ox also speaks of God’s servant.
1 Corinthians 9:9-12
For it is written in the law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain.” Is it oxen God is concerned about? Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written, that he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope. If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things? If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more?
Nevertheless we have not used this right, but endure all things lest we hinder the gospel of Christ.
One of the faces is the face of the ox.
Jesus came to serve. It was Jesus who took the pail to wash His disciples feet! His heart is to serve us. Open our hearts to allow Him to serve us.
Philippians 2:5-11
The Humbled and Exalted Christ
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
He made Himself nothing. Jesus made Himself nothing! We are trying with all our efforts to make ourselves something! We wanna be recognised by all man. But Jesus made Himself nothing. He committed no sins. He took the form of servant for us because He loves us!
When we are servant we can’t do anything of our own. All the resources we have is for our master. Our lives do not belong to ourselves. Jesus served God the Father. He became a Servant for us!
He gave up everything for us because of love.
He humbled Himself!
Jesus took it all although He knew what is going to happen!
Isaiah 50:6-7
I gave My back to those who struck Me,
And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard;
I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.
“For the Lord God will help Me;
Therefore I will not be disgraced;
Therefore I have set My face like a flint,
And I know that I will not be ashamed.
Jesus took it! He had foreknowledge it will come! He did not escape. He took it all! His determination to go to the cross!
We were sinners when He died for us!
Jesus determined to go to the cross FOR US.
Today we need to know we are loved!
Our forefathers gave everything for gospel for Jesus! They called themselves bond servants because they chose to be His slaves. They chose to. That is why they called themselves bond servants even though Jesus said don’t call them His servants but His friends!
This is how we should live our lives. We choose this! We choose because Jesus chose first! He chose to be a Servant to serve us and went to the cross!!
We are called! Who are the people we bring into our lives to influence us?
