I have lived in Chiangrai for almost 3 years as a missionary. I will never forget what happened today.
I was having my day off in a movie theatre. Almost half way in the movie I felt the whole building shaking. At first I thought it was a an effect in the movie itself. But then it sounded like a train approaching and the building was shaking and rocking from side to side. A staff dashed in and gave us instructions to quietly leave the cinema and the building. I must salute the Thais. Even in a crisis the younger ones would step aside for the older ones to leave first. A young man took hold of my friend’s hand to lead us safely out as we held hands together. There was no pushing or shoving! An amazing show of selfless attitude and great courage.
This morning I felt an urge to read Ps 91, it was printed on a card that I put in my wallet. Its a psalm of protection and little did I realised how much I needed protection. Even as I am writing this testimony I can feel the aftershocks. The tremor read 6.0 on the richter scale in the major one when I was in the cinema.
Just a few days ago, I gave away those cards to many missionaries in my church not realising how much they would need it too. God is truly good and faithful!
I am convinced that no harm shall befall me and I will only observe with my eyes when tragedies happen. Amen!
Thank you Evelyn Zoe for obeying God to print those cards for us!! You have no idea what a blessing that is for many of us here in Chiangrai!! God bless u!
