It’s all about His Son. Worship brings reminders to God about His Son.
Jesus is the Heavenly Joseph. When Joseph revealed himself to his brother, with all the power he had he said come here. Forgave them and then told them to go tell their father.
When we sing about Jesus, God delights. What you do with your LORD Jesus is what He does with u.
War- father’s only son had to go. Received news that his son died. Time passed. Only servant left by his side. Old man passed away. Old man had many famous paintings. The auction started w a painting of his son. No one bid for the painting. The old servant who mourned for his master. Put up his hand and offered what he could. A meagre sum. The moment he bought it, the auction ended. Everyone was surprised. He who got the son, got all the paintings.
Do you have the Son? Do u have Him?
Has God punished sin? If a judge isn’t judicial, the whole fabric of society will crumble. Need unbiased judges. Faithful to the law. A just God.
The cross – because of it, God is righteous to receive sinners. God is satisfied by the finished work of Christ. Not only does He accept us today, He does so as sons and not servants.
The two disciples on Emmaus road were discouraged. Jesus prevented them from seeing who He was but he walked and expounded things in the Word with them. Divine pattern of what we are to do on Sundays.
People come not knowing they need Jesus. Jesus is the bread, the fount, the resurrection and life.
More important we see Jesus in the Word. That is why the two disciples were prevented from seeing that Jesus was walking with them along the road.
Prophetic ministry- in the OT. 40d 40n- God gave Moses the paradigm of what His dwelling will be like. High Priests also mentioned.
High Priests failed. Then God raised Kings. King became first place and High Priest serve. King failed. Raised Prophets.
Elijah and Elisha’s time- king was evil. The king was married to the evil Jezebel. The people were made to worship Baal- horrible practices like children being thrown into fire as offering to Baal.
Elijah is a type of John the Baptist. Elisha is a type of Jesus (Eli-Sha … God is salvation). All of Elisha’s miracles are grace based. Elijah’s miracles are judgment based.
Just as John the Baptist was the forerunner of Christ, so was Elijah. Elijah wore camel hair, lived in the wild. Elisha was a homely prophet. Moved amongst widows, lepers, kings- accessible to common people and royalty.
Right side of the altar of incense- they kept the garments of Elijah. The one he used to hit the water to split it.
Luke 1:17- Angel speaking of John the Baptist.
Elijah’s ministry was cut short.
Elijah vs Prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel
The God who answers by fire is God.
Time of famine- Elijah had declared no dew or rain…
The Baal worshippers danced and mutilated self to ask for rain. This is not the way of our God. Doesn’t ask us to mutilate ourselves. Our God is Healer.
Elijah set 12 stones- at this time, the twelve tribes wasn’t in existence yet. Asked God to show Israel that He is the true God. Fire came and stones consumed. Judgment greater than sacrifice. Jesus—> sacrifice greater than judgments.
Jesus is the friend of sinners. Gracious, faithful and ready friend. People who come with needs leave w healing and provision. His eyes are like rivers of living water- gentle and loving. Altogether lovely.
Right after Elijah’s victory, people declared the LORD HE IS GOD. U would have thought the whole nation turned to God right? No.
Elijah was discouraged. Failure in ministry can cause discouragement. He was depressed.
Jezebel said she would go after him and kill Elijah for killing her prophets. Elijah turned tail and ran. This same Elijah that stood up against the prophets of Baal and taunted them.
David who conquered Goliath and won a great victory, was running away from Saul a few chapt later. Same David who declared the God delivers, said he would die by Saul’s hand one day. Goliath’s sword couldn’t protect him from David, but a few chapt later David said no sword like it.
Self- Occupation. Took eyes off of Christ and become confused and a walking contradiction.
Make small of your problems. Make God big.
God saw Elijah’s need to rest. Saw he was burned out.
Who are we to even criticise Elijah. All these things in bible for our instruction and learning. Considering ourselves. If this can happen to a great man of God like Elijah and David, what about us?

Angel had cooked for him and got a bottle of water for him. Elijah told to eat and drink. Happened a few times. God gets us to rest and feed on Christ (best nourishment, no other food nourishes us like Him, only Christ satisfies).
Mt Horab is Mt Sinai. God didn’t ask him to go to Mt Horab. He went there on his own and went to retreat in a cave.
The prob is your prob is with you wherever u go. Amazing how in a dark cave they come alive in colour.
Remember to read bible slowly sometimes. Meditation.
Romans 11:2-4
Elijah pleaded w God against Israel, not for Israel. Recounting faults against them.
When u are upset w someone, u don’t go to God and complain about them. Table manners. We are saved by His Son’s blood. We are saved not to recount our brother’s sins. We are not beyond it. If we do recount as leaders best be meek about it.
Sometimes enemy puts in our mind that we are the only faithful ones, or the only church that preaches true grace (the kinds of thing we impose on our pastor that he never said was so lol)… Elijah felt like he was alone. God told Elijah that there were 7000 others who had not bowed their knees to Baal.
1 Kings 19:1-13
Wind, earthquake and fire… God is saying sometimes a strong and loud ministry is not exactly going to accomplish the results u think it will. God’s ways are the ways of grace- still, small voice.
We have to learn not to boast of ourselves. Let us not think we are indispensable.

The moment you think you are indispensable, God says to anoint the successor.
Elijah was looking for outward manifestation. Not the way of God.
Elijah did 8 miracles. Elisha did 16 miracles. The last miracle happened after his death. Double portion.
We need pastors and leaders who are willing to sacrifice self for the glory of our LORD. It is a privilege for us to serve. Privilege.
Acts 1- let his office (Judas’ position, in Greek ‘overseer’) another takes. If you don’t want to be diligent, someone else will take over your office. God made our unique and made us to serve him in our uniqueness but the moment we think we are indispensable, that’s a problem. God isn’t hard up. He can always raise someone else. When the Eucharist is missing from us, when we forget to thank God, when we forget what a privilege we have… Remember to lose life FOR HIS SAKE and don’t squander it, do not for men’s recognition.
Melchizedek brought bread and wine, Abraham responded w a tithe. Our problems usually tie in with health and provision. Let us not be hypocrites and say God is only for us to be prepared to go to Heaven. There is work to be done here.
Pastor doesn’t preach based on impact or impression. Here to serve the king of kings, to serve us fresh bread. To his natural disadvantage to preach what he did. But did it because the LORD led him to. Obedience to that leading.
Gilgal- rolling away of our shame and reproach. The cross is where our shame and reproached are rolled away.
Entering season of famine in the land. Now word. Prophetic.
2 Kings 4:38-44
Stew is already boiling but one joker tried to improve what was already made. This all began in the garden of Eden. God had prepared everything. Didn’t have to build or sow or dig. Just step into a finished work and give God the glory. But men looked at the tree and felt they could improve on what God has made & the result is death.
The message is more important than the packaging.
V39- those into organic food, this is for u.
Eve saw the tree was good, but she lost everything.
V40- the food should sustain and bring life. Nourish and not bring death. But now there is death in the pot.
What gives life? The pulpit ministry. Message should give life and not bring death.
V41- Elisha said bring some flour. Put in the pot. Way of the world is to remove what is harmful. Way of the LORD is to add something GREATER.
Even if the food is 90% clean and 10% defiled, u shouldn’t eat it. Uncleaness spreads.
Only one cure- Jesus. Resurrection and the life. He steps into the situation, comes into our midst… As many as touch Him, the virtue went out of Him and healed them all.
He IS, not He has.
Leviticus- all other offerings are
type of His death, one offering is type of His life- Grain offering.
Fine flour- nothing coarse, nothing uneven. Truthful but kind. Some are kind but not honest. Our kids need to hear the truth from us. Some are so truthful, there is no love. Speak the truth in love.
Frankincense- every thought goes up to God like sweet perfume.
The Father loves to hear about the Son.
Lev 2:4
In virgin womb, mix with oil. Then anointed when he was 30yo.
Make sure we have Jesus in the sermon. In every sermon there is human opinion but put Jesus in, and when the fine flour went into the pot, all the death stepped out. Death has to kowtow to the only man who conquered it.
V42- “then” – two accounts linked together. About the tithe and the communion. Connected together.
Ps’s son fell sick recently- 39.5 deg fever. Could feel devil mocking “Where is the communion teaching now?”
Took communion w him before bed and next morning. Read bible stories. Fever broke. Literally felt the fever go down.
Persevere when the attacks happen. Devil wants to rob us of the Word.
Everything looks better on the other side until you are on the other side.
2Kings 4:42- tithe
V43- servant said not enough for 100 men. But the LORD said, they shall eat and have some left over.
This story is similar to the 5 loaves and 2 fishes acc.
Difference? Jesus fed more.
Style was different also. Elisha had to say thus said the LORD. Jesus is the Word of God. Our LORD Jesus is the word used by Elisha to feed the people. Elisha is a servant but Jesus is on a different standing.
His provision is always greater than our need. Always exceeds. Bread enough to spare.
Love is unmeasurable and His power is as large as His love.
The 5 loaves and 2 fishes acc happened in the wilderness.
What is man’s wilderness is His storehouse. When we think we can, He cannot perform for us or through us. But when we rest, in Him, He becomes our ability. “LORD, THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM.” Expose everything to Jesus.
Jesus is our healing and provision. Loves us more than we know.
Ps preached on communion so counter attack of enemy was Justin falling sick. Persevered. Went through it.
Luke 22:31-34
Sometimes He protects us and sometimes He let’s us go through. We go through to a better position.
Peter was self confident v33 so prob that is why Jesus allowed Peter to go through V34. But remember V32.
Ps 66:12 KJV
When we go through, look forward to the OUT- NASB says place of abundance (revayah- more than enough, intoxication). The IN and OUT are different places.
We get spoils of war only gotten by going through the war.
In the midst of the attack, take communion. Our cup overflows… revayah!
He will bring us out and it will be a higher place than where we went in.
