No longer under condemnation.
This world is in dire straits. Suffering from a the advancement of technology. Modern men can’t stop men from being greedy, killing, going crazy. Greedy for land and power. Regression.
Looking forward to the rapture and the One who can put the world right will come. Men can talk about doing their best but there will be that one soul that God will say that is it, it’s completed. And Jesus will come.
Jews- Cast aside and not cast out. God set them aside to deal w the Gentiles for now. God only see it this way- Jews or Gentile.
In the Book of Revelations – by the time u reach chapt 4, the church is no longer mentioned. Raptured.
If the church is raptured, what’s left? Jews and Gentile.
Gentiles were never given the law but funny thing is they want to go back under the law. Paul in Galatians said when we were children we were under tutors- children are placed under law. Under grace, not under the law. Maturity. When grace came, the Jews mature and become sons. Dignity and maturity= SONship. We receive that upon receiving Jesus.
We are no longer under Ten Commandments yet some are preaching otherwise. Dead to the law that you are married to another- Paul said this in the epistles.
By dying on the Cross, Jesus made us dead to the law that we might be alive in Grace.
Ruth is a gentile. The law disqualifies her. But Ruth said to her MIL, Your God is my God. By law she was disqualified, but by grace she was able to work in the fields. By grace she had favour w Boaz. There was a law in the land regarding widows- kinsman redeemer. She was a Moabite. She was married before. Who would want to marry her? Boaz. Kinsman redeemer. She was doing the menial task of gleaning but ended up marrying the man who owned the field. They had a son, Boaz & he is the predecessor of David. By grace. Amen.
Law demands righteousness. Grace supplies righteousness. Law is what you are to be to God. Grace is what God is to u- lover, saviour, husband, shepherd.
U know u are still under law when u are always experiencing guilt and condemnation. Counselling>> vast majority of the people suffer from G&C. Some people feel bad that they can’t provide for family, so work harder and strive beyond energy level and then run on empty & bad things can happen. Need to comm w spouse u are feeling fearful or feeling bad.
Sometimes own parents, u want to honour them so much and they know how to push your buttons and make u feel bad. Guilt inducing. We don’t communicate- I feel lonely or lost. When people feel guilty, they fight and start using dishonourable words on their parents and feel even worse afterwards.
Long before there was stress and depression, there was death.
What was the problem, stressed out and fearful. Sinned against God so hid himself- guilt, self-righteousness. When He asked where are u it isn’t coz he can’t find Adam. He wanted us to think where is He coz where He is, the answer is.
Stress and fear- first time man feared- Adam. Lost confidence in God and fear no more protection etc.
Leaves- financial lack, marriage breakdown, depression etc
Root- Stress
Deeper root- Fear
Deepest root- Condemnation
Once feel condemned don’t feel God is w you. U think if anything will go wrong, it will go wrong for me. Wired for negativism. Eye not for good but for bad. See spouse and see only the bad. Complain no shoes until see someone w no feet.
Those of us who are Christ conscious, not that there is nothing bad in our lives but we see the good.
Eradicate the sin consciousness & fear- stress will leave. Believers know all things work together for good. Praise God.
Tree of knowledge of good and evil = law
Knowledge of good and evil – internet.
Don’t do your bible studies based on what other people say.
Law’s nature is to condemn men. Eg. U park wrong place and explain to the parking attendant why u park wrong place. U still get a ticket. Don’t blame the parking attendant, he is doing his job.
Ten Commandments is a good outward governance for any nation out there. Murder punishable by death, adulterous is grounds for divorce. Modify outward behaviour. When Anarchy happens and there is no law, u can see what’s in men’s heart.
Sin offering covers their sin but one sin has no covering- idolatry. Once abandon God to embrace other deities, no more sin offering offered to God. No more cover. So Hebrews went under captivity.
Sirus- King of Persia (many believe he is Esther’s son)- prophesied that he would serve God. Gave leave to the Hebrews to return to their land and also Commanded the rebuilding of the temple.
Mary’s lineage came from Nathan and not Solomon. Mary’s lineage came around the curse. Zerubabel – crown prince. But coz of curse, couldn’t reign.
The Hebrews started building on the second year. The Samaritans came and threatened Joshua and ZBB. Both leaders were fearful and all the work stopped. Then another decree came from the new king in Persia commanding the work stop. 15y. People stopped building the temple to build own home. Felt like there was no favour or provision.
Then Haggai and Zechariah were raised. Prophets. Young people. Prophesied to the leadership and high priest. Because u neglect God’s house, therefore your house is neglected. Seek first the kingdom of God.
Zechariah had a vision – Zech3:1-4
The Angel of the LORD = preincarnate Jesus
Joshua felt condemned – blamed the outside forces, but actually coz leader felt condemned so grace couldn’t flow. Was under law. Self occupied.
As the high priest goes, so goes the nation.
Joshua immobilised by sin consciousness. Not by the king of Persia or the Samaritans.
Zerubbabel – Zech 4:6 – God gives us Power to get Wealth. Not through your smarts. Not by our power or might but only through the LORD. Maybe ZBB thought he had no power or money or military might to help his country hence the reminder.
Zech 4:7- how the mountain flattened? not coz of wealth, nor armies, nor human abilities … It is coz they shout GRACE GRACE to their mountain of obstacles
Condemnation stops the flow of God’s favour.
Pastor knows a pastor very well and he was summoned a number of years to go to a household. They needed prayer and healing. He went to pray and laid hands and the sick man grew worse. In the last stages, the family requested this pastor back again. Dying man, asked family to leave room. Told the pastor – “I don’t want u to feel discouraged or feel bad. I know why I cannot be healed. Many years ago when I was a missionary on the foreign field I committed adultery, my family doesn’t know. This is the reason why I cannot receive.”
People who can’t forgive themselves even after they confess their sins. Never feel it is enough.
Grew up in religious family. Forced to go to church. (Segue- there are rebellious youths but as long as they are there, some day somewhere somehow they might hear something that changes their lives & their whole personality undergoes a tremendous change and are in love with Jesus. Many such lives changed this way in our youth church. The worse is to stay home or join friends outside. Tastebuds will change. Give them the taste whilst they are young so they will relish the heavenly things of God). Started listening to the sermon of grace, saw God as loving. Broke free from low self esteem, knew that her value no longer based on what others think of her. Now knows her value comes from Jesus and His finished work. 22y ago, hubby said he would quit smoking. After hearing grace message, he quit smoking right away. He was healed of a growth on his calf that was diem sized and black. Quoted Isaiah 53 and prayed over it. She prayed over the leg, his leg jerked and he yelled you burnt me. They looked at the mole, it had turned grey and was healed.
1 John 2:12
Remember this, the Greeks have a word for everything in their language. Greek v expressive and detailed language.
“Forgiven”
1John1:9 says confess sins for God to forgive u- if that is written to the Christian u have to do it. But will have to confess everything. But it isn’t.
Bible schools and seminaries teach u cannot build a doctrine on one verse. Paul has never once said confess your sins in all of his letters. He says we have forgiveness through Jesus finished work. Epistle of John was written 60y after church was established.
1 John 1:9 was written to the Gnostics and not Christians.
Forgiven in 1 John 2:12 past completed act, with present continuous result.
Some claim there are two kinds of forgiveness…
Judicious forgiveness – all of us forgiven through the cross of Christ
Parental forgiveness – parental relationship is not broken but fellowship is until they say sorry
This is WRONG theory.
Your forgiveness should give your child the desire to apologise and draw close. Not they don’t say sorry so u don’t forgive.
Whoever is forgiven much will love much. Whoever is forgiven little they will love little.
This different forgiveness- devil uses it to drive a wedge btw us.
Did the prodigal son’s dad yell at him to apologise before he would forgive him? The father saw the son return from afar- did the father run first or the son confess first? Did the father embrace first or the son confess first? Did the father kids him first or the son confess first? The son did apologise but did the apology bring about the embrace or kiss first? No, coz the apology came afterwards.
Ps says he will be worried if a guy came up to him and said judicially he is married but experientially he isn’t.
People always think is it judicial or experiential/ parental forgiveness- don’t play w God’s word. He says forgiven once and for all means forgiven.
A Christian will fall into sin but will not practice sin. If u are here and u are committing adultery, u are condemned already in ur own heart. U are purposely living in adultery. But for the person who occasionally loses his cool, feel tempted to look at a good looking woman not his wife- this message helps.
San Francisco bridge whilst building- they put a net for safety. The work moved faster – it enhanced. Doesn’t mean there is a net, people will purposely be careless. They feel secure so they can work better and faster.
Ditto with grace. Doesn’t mean there is grace so people will now purposely sin. Grace doesn’t promote licentious living.
Romans 5:1-2
Ppl think peace is passive
V1- have peace (ekho – to hold in the hand, to possess and to enjoy) It is active peace. Hold fast to this verse and claim it and possess it. U don’t say it to have it. U speak what you already possess. Possess your possessions.
See AMP version – ‘…grasp the fact that we have the peace of reconciliation to hold and enjoy…’
Not about feeling the peace. HOLD ON TO IT.
Cannot think- last month, did something wrong so the rooster will
come to roost.
No. HOLD FAST!
Eph 1:7
One completed act w continuing result. We are forgiven already at the Cross but daily we remain forgiven.
Have- ekho- present active
When bad thoughts come- I AM FORGIVEN. I HAVE FORGIVENESS. THERE IS NO GENERATIONAL CURSE ON MY FAMILY.
It is crucial. There is a woman who came to Jesus. The Pharisee invited the LORD for dinner. In that day and age, they would recline to eat. A woman (most likely a prostitute), she wept on His feet and kept cleaning it w her hair and then she kept kissing His feet and then poured the fragrant oil. The Pharisee thought if this man is a prophet, he would know what sort of woman she is. The Pharisee called Jesus TEACHER- showed his heart for Jesus. Not as LORD but as a rabbi.
Lk 7:42-43
Jesus spoke in a way Simon would understand.
The question is who will love Him more? True holiness is loving Him more and more.
The one who knows he was forgiven until point of conversion or the one who knows he is continually forgiven?
To wrongly judge= the former
To rightly judge = the latter
Did she come knowing she is forgiven or did she do all that to be forgiven?
In v47, the great love she has, she must have already been forgive first coz the word forgiven here is in perfect tense. She prob already had a prior encounter w Jesus.
“Those whom are forgiven (present tense) little” = those who are self-righteous and think there was little wrong about them that needed to be forgiven. Doesn’t believe the forgiveness means forgiven continually (ie perfect tense).
V48- forgiven here is perfect tense. Reminder that she is already once and for all forgiven. Not present tense- aka forgiven right then. We need to be reminded repeatedly we are already forgiven too.
She did all she did coz grateful. If she did it all to be forgiven = dead works.
A lot of ppl think God forgives as u go and that causes fearful expectation of bad things happening in their lives coz worry there is unforgiveness for unconfessed sins . We must know our perfect tense forgiveness and actively possess it.
We are not saved today to be lost tomorrow. We are saved and we remain saved. We go into peace (according to Greek it is going into peace and not just go in peace) and possess it actively.
God is for me and I reject any negative things in my life in Jesus name!
We live in Dangerous times. Think scripturally. Rightly judge. Don’t just think about man’s theology and fancy words. Don’t play around with words.
Be established. Don’t waiver. U have peace with God.
