My Dad’s favourite song (and probably the favourite song of many peers from his generation) is Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”. He sings it with gusto every time it comes up on the radio or when we Karaoke. I used to love that song too, but in the years of walking with Jesus, I have to learn that I need to let go and let God; to trust that He will do it His way which is far more superior than what I can make out of the tangles I encounter in my life.
The Shepherd guides me perfectly with his rod and staff. When I wander off course out of sheer stubborness, I often feel so frustrated, but all I have to do is to ‘bleat’ out His name and He never takes too long to rescue me from the weeds I have caught myself on.
My Shepherd is awake 24/7. He has no off days, hears all my prayers and requests, and even if I am the last person left on this face of the Earth, I know He would have still come down, open His arms and die on the Cross for me. His heart is for each individual lost soul.
His watchful eyes are always upon me and His Holy Spirit is my constant GPS- guiding me along the twists and turns of life’s journey.
Like the shoemaker from “The Elves and the Shoemaker”, all that is needed of me for the work to be done is to sleep and rest as He is the author and finisher of my faith. His work is perfect and complete. “It is finished,” He declared.
Joyce Meyer once said, “Go ahead and enjoy your life while God works on your problems.”
Too many of us think that life is a puzzle meant for us to solve and furrow our brows over. Jesus says He is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE- He doesn’t just have the answer. He IS the answer.
Many are still looking for the answers to life when it is right before them. May we have eyes to see, ears to hear and hearts opened to His gentle promptings.
